Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice
The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and had been in contact with the league office.
The team omitted the name of Rice specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete directly, shared a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.
Player's Prior Legal Issues
The receiver missed the first six games of this season following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.
Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
