Dominant Sabalenka Wins Consecutive WTA Player of the Year Honors.
The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second successive season.
The twenty-seven-year-old won four titles – the most on tour – which included retaining the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth Grand Slam singles title.
A Year of High Performance
Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka competed in a circuit-leading nine finals, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.
The star player also claimed victory at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She spent the entire year as the world number one, concluding 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year.
This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams in 2015.
Historic Numbers
Sabalenka concluded the season with a 63-12 win-loss record, and earned a historic £11m in tournament winnings.
She received nearly eighty percent of the votes cast by global tennis journalists.
Later this month, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "raise women's tennis to a higher level".
Additional WTA Award Winners
- Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, was voted after taking 13-month break following the birth of her daughter and returning to the sport earlier this season.
- Rookie of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko was honored with the award after beginning the season ranked outside the world's top 300 and soaring to world number 18.
- Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend earned the title after capturing their second Grand Slam title as a pair.
- Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after advancing to five championship matches.
Last week, Carlos Alcaraz won three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as fans' favourite for a third time.
