Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Deadly Car Crash

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos stated on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his close associates.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The sports star had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, representatives confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.

“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the official remarked.

Honoring the Deceased

The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the loss of his two close friends.”

His release from the hospital comes as the sports world offered its support for the champion in the wake of the terrible crash.
